It is recommended that you wait at least 24 hours – especially if you are prone to ingrown hairs or are fairly new to waxing. Friction and perspiration might aggravate the skin. During the first 24 hours, your body is most susceptible to outside bacteria that might cause an infection of the hair follicle known as folliculitis.

What after-care do I need to follow?
You will need to keep the waxed area clean and avoid heat and friction during the next 24 hours. This means:
- No hot baths or showers (warm water only)
- No saunas, hot tubs or steam treatments
- No tanning (sunbathing, sun beds or fake tans)
- No sport, gym, work or other exercise
- Avoid scratching or touching the treated area with unwashed hands
- Avoid swimming in chlorinated pools
- Do not apply deodorants, body sprays, powders, lotions or other products to the area, other than those recommended by your therapist.
Please note: Some slight soreness, small bumps and redness are common and perfectly normal, temporary reactions, particularly if this is your first wax. These symptoms should subside over 24-48 hours. If you experience persistent redness or irritation, or if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Frequently Asked Questions
We recommend that you let the hair grow for at least seven days after shaving. Everyone has different growth cycle but we are generally able to wax areas that have been shaved 7-10 days earlier. If you feel your hair is too long, don’t fret as your therapist will trim it to the appropriate length.
No! Even if you think your hair is too long, don’t trim or use the clippers. The longer the hair is, the better the wax will grab it and the smoother your results will be. Remember, if it is too long your therapist will trim it for you. So don’t worry. Our hot wax can remove hairs as short as 1mm in length. Our strip wax can remove hair as short as 2mm in length. With larger parts of the body like arms or legs, we suggest leaving it 3 weeks before waxing it. Clients that have not waxed or shaved for a long period of time need not worry as your therapists will trim the hair to a suitable length for waxing.
It usually takes around 10 to 20 minutes. The more regularly you get waxed, the faster it can be done.
When it comes to the hair re-growth cycle we are not all the same. Everyone’s hair grows at different rates, sometimes depending on ethnicity. Some clients can visit every six weeks and have hardly any hair at all while others have to come in every three weeks. Generally, every four weeks is the most popular length of time between waxes. You may notice a small amount of growth after a week or so. It can take up to four treatments for your hair to get into a growth cycle that gives you the best results. We recommend waxing every 4 weeks to maintain your smooth appearance.
Most clients visit every three to five weeks, depending on how fast their hair grows back.
No. Waxing pulls the hair from the follicle, weakening the root. So, if anything it will grow back weaker, more sparse and easier to remove next time.
No but it will become more sparse and have a finer texture if you wax on a regular basis.
No! The hair will be shorter when you come in for your next visit and the wax won’t grab as well. Also, shaving creates ingrown hairs, redness and irritation. If you have an urge to shave, make your appointments every three weeks instead of four or five.
Yes. Just be aware you are more sensitive three days before your period and three days after your period. Women in this line of business usually are not squeamish, our therapists included. So just simply wear a fresh tampon and pop a couple of painkillers to help fight the extra sting during this time.
The answer is absolutely not! You are never too old for a wax!
The answer to this one is up to you. There are arguments for both sides of the debate. Alcohol is a stimulant and can make your skin more sensitive to waxing, causing more inflammation. Others say they don’t notice this difference. If you are embarrassed about baring your parts, a glass of wine might help you relax?
Of course! This is becoming a regular item on many soon-to-be Mums’ to-do lists. The blood vessels are more dilated during this time and your skin is more sensitive than usual, so extra precautions need to be taken. If you are new to waxing or have not waxed in a while, let us know so that your hair can be evaluated to see how coarse it is. It is recommended that you get a basic bikini wax first to see how your skin reacts and then go for the full Brazilian.
It certainly can!! Certain medications and products thin out the skin making it more likely for you to peel or burn during your waxing session. If you are unsure if your medication will affect your skin you can discuss this during your initial consultation
You should plan on waiting at least 24 hours after your waxing treatment before tanning. Do not come in straight after a fresh spray tan because the wax will take it right off.
Whether you want a premarital wax or just a holiday-ready bikini line, it is recommended that you plan to have at least two waxes before the event. This will ensure you do not have any reactions to the wax before the big day. It also gets the first wax, which is the most uncomfortable, out of the way. The second wax will also provide a much smoother, cleaner result with less post wax tenderness. If you don’t have time to squeeze in two waxing sessions then go at least three to four days prior to your special occasion.
