FAQs
What is Thermage?
Thermage is a safe, non-invasive procedure that’s proven to tighten and contour your skin. Its unique deep-heating technology stimulates and renews your own collagen resulting in tighter, smoother skin and it can be used to treat a number of areas across the face and body. Unlike lasers, this tecnology works on all skin types and tones.
Thermage works deep into the dermis, heating up the collagen network which results in the tightening of the skin. Over the following few months this initiates the growth of new collagen resulting in tighter, smoother skin and a more youthful appearance.
When will I see results from my Thermage treatment?
Most people will see a small lift immediately after the treatment but best results develop within around two to three months. At that time, if a client wishes, the procedure can be repeated in order to gain additional improvement.
Thermage vs. Other Treatments
Thermage is safer than invasive cosmetic procedures and unlike lasers, thermage works on all skin types and colours. Best of all, you only need one treatment to obtain the benefits. In addition, there is no downtime so you can quickly resume your daily routine. Thermage is the only treatment option that rejuvenates the collagen deep in your skin, with none of the negative aspects of other treatments. Unlike injections or fillers, thermage works across your entire face, including forehead, eyes, nasolabial folds, jaw line, jowls and the area under your chin.
Is there any special preparation or follow-up regime for the thermage treatment?
There is no pre-procedure preparation. You can return to regular activities immediately following the thermage skin treatment. However you must avoid exposing your skin to extremes of heat and cold. You must protect your skin with a sunblock cream after the thermage procedure. Your normal make up and beauty regime can be followed immediately following your thermage treatment. Some clients exhibit a temporary redness or minor swelling after the thermage treatment. This usually resolves within 24 hours. Good skin care and sunscreens are recommended as part of your regular skin care regimen.
What does the thermage treatment feel like?
During the treatment you’ll feel a brief, heat sensation each time. Thermage delivers energy to the under layer of your skin. This indicates that your collagen is being stimulated and tightened. This is a very safe procedure. Side effects are generally mild and may include redness, swelling, blisters, bumps and rare instances of surface irregularities.
How long will the effects of the thermage treatment last?
The treatment will immediately tighten existing collagen and stimulate new, natural collagen production for up to six months following the treatment. The results may last for years depending on the client’s natural ageing process.
All individuals are different and it is not possible to completely predict who will benefit from the treatment. Women between 35-60 years of age normally have the best and most predictable results. If your skin is too lax, the results will not be as dramatic. A small percentage of clients do not respond to the therapy. We will discuss with you if additional treatments are needed or smaller touch-up procedures are required to achieve the desired end result.
How many therapy will I need?
Unlike many other treatments requiring a course of therapy, a single thermage skin treatment produces results in the majority of clients. However, depending on your needs and goals, you may want or we may recommend a course of treatment.
Is the procedure safe?
The treatment has an excellent safety record. To date the reported incidents of side effects is less than 0.4%.
